Hi gang! This is Zach, reporting live from my comfy bed at home. My human tells me that I have 300 friends on IG which is cool because a) they are virtual so I don’t have to leave the house or dress up to interact with them, and b) I get to see lots of cool adventures from the safety of my house! Win-win. Thank the heavens I was adopted by a pair of couch potatoes that learned to respect my boundaries and FOGO (fear of going out). Living it up! He he he 🎉🎉
Seriously though, my fears and phobias make it impossible to enjoy the outdoors but the places mom sees and the connections she makes in the community help her create an environment for me to ensure I don’t miss out as much as I had been in the past. It helps her plan for my Field of Dreams and other immediate needs like diet and anxiety relief. The more she learns, the better off we all are. She’s not alone in this journey with a fearful and reactive dog anymore and I have y’all to thank for that.
My favorite side effect of having virtual friends is that mom made a few local connections as well. Coqui’s (@coquithebouncingdog) mom sent me yummy home made treats which I had been craving for a while and was able to share with my pawrents’ Crucible dog friends. Turns out Coqui lives a few blocks away from me and has heard me barking at a distance. (One day she will walk by my street and I will say hi from behind the safety of my fence.) Mom has also been able to encourage my friends through her comments, like @mochabug_milktea who need a muzzle while training or going to the vet just like me. And I thought I was the only one brave enough to model with it in on IG!
The coolest part for my mom has been following the many special need pups and rescues out there living it up, like @pinkpigletpuppy who is blind and deaf, and @lovecommalumen who needs special orthodics to walk due to a paw deformity. We are all unique and deserve to be saved, protected and cared for. It’s very comforting to know we are all in this together, especially when we lose someone like Ellie, who @IncredibullStella had helped find a home or are watching Joey (@pretty_pittie_willow) and Winnie (@winniethebluestaffy) battle cancer.
To all the introverts out there, thanks for following my adventures from the comforts of your own couch. To the extroverts and entrepreneurs, paw high-five, keep the adventures and opportunities coming. To my followers, I am truly grateful for my pup and human peeps. Y’all make this experience worthwhile. Let’s continue to keep Insta beautiful with images of tongue out Tuesdays and throw back Thursdays. There’s so much left to learn, live and accomplish. Together, we can make the impossible, possible.
Lots of love,
