With this new wave of hatred and discrimination against women, minorities and the LGBTQIA community, I’m turning into a very vocal dissenter and advocate of human and civil rights. It is a quest I don’t take lightly because it affects me and my liberties as a citizen but it results in heated arguments and pointless explanation loops that can drain me and my passion supply. Never have a witnessed such disregard for the progress made by these groups which can be taken away from them with the stroke of a pen. The majority rules but that doesn’t mean they aren’t wrong.
Most days it feels like I am trying to defeat Sauron himself and toss the ring into the fires of Mount Doom. However, the simple minded folks that are against me keeping my rights as an individual and independent being from the men in my life treat us, the fighters, as if we were the Mouth of Sauron. Little do they realize that they are the ones spewing evil and ignorance in the name of whatever authority figure commands them; be it the President, the GOP or God himself. How can a person not empathize with such a righteous cause? It is about the children, the future, and everyone else caught n between. We need to make the world a better place, full of opportunities. Denouncing science and pretending humans aren’t causing the problems and issues of the 21rst century isn’t going to make it any better. Put your cellphones down for a second and take note: without science and technology the USA and superpowers of this planet would have nothing. No economy, no prosperity. Why is this so hard to comprehend?
Education is the key to combat this wave of assaults. Tolerance, understanding and integration of all colors, genders, creeds and religions is necessary to survive as a species. It is about time we did good and united against bigotry and discrimination. A country united will stand, a countru divided will fall. (Even Optimus Prime knows this. Don’t be Megatron’s puppet, or worse, a Starscream. Couldn’t help myself.) When people assume they can benefit from the one ring’s power they will abuse their authority, and use it to further their causes. The common good is not common anymore, and neither is common sense. We must make a stand and fight back so the masses can see how far they have been led astray by their own blind beliefs and desires. It is easy to validate your own perceptions and skew observations. Don’t play the orc or the Uruk-hai. Don’t go into the fight armed with the knowledge imparted by others. Trust but verify people. Unbias the data and information. Think critically.
Walk with me into Mordor and help me eradicate the plague caused by indifference and self agrandizement. The time to fight is now.
