Inspired by Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai and remade as an homage to the success of the original USA adaptation, the new Magnificent Seven are recruited by a young widow named Emma Cullen to save the town of Rose Creek from being overrun by Bartholomew Bogue, a villainous robber baron that wants to turn the land into a gold mine. Sam Chisholm (Denzel Washington), pulls together a rag tag team of gunslingers and sharpshooters to save the town and avenge all of those wronged by Bogue.
The Magnificent Seven is a tale of overcoming adversity with cunning, hard work and preparation. Even though they were running against the clock to protect the villagers, the team gets so creative that they earn a shot at success. For this incarnation, the names and locations may have been altered to give a fresh spin on the Kurosawa tale. Seven men can fight like 700 and defeat an army.
If you are a fan of Ethan Hawke and Chris Pratt, this movie won’t disappoint. Denzel delivers as always. The diversity of the crew was refreshing. Give it a go. It is to die for.
Enjoy!
